Overview

This EasyMP3 board can be used to easily add MP3 capabilities to your prototype circuits. The board is based on the VLSI Solutions VS1011e MPEG layer 3 audio decoder, which communicates with microcontrollers using the SPI serial bus and features digital to analog converter and earphone amplifier.

VS1011e MPEG Layer 3 Audio Decoder

The VLSI Solutions VS1011e is a single-chip solution for an MPEG layer 3 audio decoder. The chip includes a high-performance, low-power DSP processor core VS DSP4, working memory, 5 KiB instruction RAM and 0.5 KiB data RAM for user applications, serial control and input data interfaces, 4 general purpose I/O pins, as well as a high-quality variable-sample-rate stereo DAC, followed by an earphone amplifier and a common buffer.

Features

• Based on VS1011e MPEG layer 3 audio decoder with SPI serial interface.
• 3.3V operation.
• Provides screw terminals for easy connection of headphones or speakers.
• Can be connected to your own circuits, though note that a voltage translator is required to interface to 5V systems.
• Supported by example programs supplied with MikroElektronika's mikroBASIC, mikroC and mikroPascal PRO compilers.
