Overview

This serial Ethernet board employs Microchip's 28-pin ENC28J60 10BASE-T stand-alone Ethernet controller IC that interfaces using SPI serial bus, making it ideal for adding Ethernet to PICs and other microcontrollers that do not feature an on-chip Ethernet controller. The board is designed to plug onto MikroElektronika's PIC, dsPIC, AVR and 8051 development and prototyping boards.

ENC28J60 10BASE-T Stand-Alone Ethernet Controller

Microchip Technology's ENC28J60 used on the Ethernet add-on board is a 10BASE-T stand-alone Ethernet controller IC with on-chip MAC & PHY, 8KB of Buffer RAM and SPI serial interface. With its small footprint package size the ENC28J60 minimizes complexity, board space and cost. Target applications include VoIP, industrial automation, building automation, home control, security and instrumentation.
