High-Resolution Analog-to-Digital Conversion for Microcontrollers

The ADS1115 is a precision 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) module featuring 4 single-ended or 2 differential input channels and a built-in Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA). It communicates over I2C, making it the perfect add-on for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontrollers that lack a built-in ADC or need higher resolution measurements.

Key Specifications

  • Resolution: 16-bit
  • Channels: 4 single-ended / 2 differential
  • Interface: I2C (up to 4 devices per bus via address pins)
  • I2C Address: 0x48, 0x49, 0x4A, 0x4B (selectable via ADDR pin)
  • Data Rate: 8 SPS to 860 SPS (programmable)
  • PGA Range: ±0.256V to ±6.144V (6 gain settings)
  • Onboard Comparator: Window and traditional modes with alert pin
  • Supply Voltage: 2.0V to 5.5V
  • Low Current Consumption: ~150µA continuous, auto power-down between conversions

Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) Settings

  • ±6.144V, ±4.096V, ±2.048V (default), ±1.024V, ±0.512V, ±0.256V

Compatible With

  • Raspberry Pi (all models)
  • Arduino (Uno, Mega, Nano)
  • ESP32 / ESP8266
  • Any I2C-capable microcontroller

Ideal For

Reading analog sensors on Raspberry Pi, precision voltage measurement, battery monitoring, load cell signal conditioning, current sensing, and any application requiring high-resolution ADC beyond the built-in 10-bit ADC of standard Arduino boards.

Note: Module operates at 3.3V and 5V logic levels. Ensure input voltage does not exceed the selected PGA range to avoid damage.
