Building a line follower robot for a school project, university FYP or robotics competition? The TCRT5000 module is the go-to infrared sensor for detecting black and white lines. It shines IR light on the surface and reads the reflection, so your robot knows exactly when it's on the track.

Tips

Mount the sensor a few millimetres above the surface for best results, and fine-tune the potentiometer until the indicator LED switches cleanly between the line and background. Use several modules side by side for smoother, faster tracking.
